O.J. Brigance – Ex NFL Football Player, An Inspiration To Us All!

I watched this video recently and heard it again on the radio over the weekend. I was deeply touched by the effect of O.J. Brigance’s presence on the Baltimore Raven’s NFL football team.

But this is not only a football story, but an incredible life story as well!

Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Have a great week.

I Disappeared For A Bit – But I Had A Good Excuse!

I pride myself on showing up at my blog as often as possible. Things got a little “busy” over the past couple of weeks. I had a pretty good excuse for disappearing for a while!

  • I would like to introduce Rowan Gray Knisley Mushey
  • Our 2nd son was born on Dec 5th at 6:41 pm
  • He weighed 10 lbs, 2 oz.
  • He was 22 inches long.

I have attached a link to some pictures if you would like to have a peak:

My wife is a true inspiration, and Elliot is a very proud big brother.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Wanna See Some Leaders? Meet Craig and Marc Kielburger!

I was at a regional Toastmasters conference over the weekend, and guest speaker Françoise Morissette had a fantastic video that I have been thinking about a lot.

Craig and Marc Kielburger have been making Canada proud since they were 12 years old as they change children’s lives one by one.

Check out this fantastic video that Francoise played during her presentation!

As well, their website is:

Your “Indefinite Unsettledness” Will End – Mine Did!

Do you ever not feel quite right? Things just aren’t as they should be? Maybe it only lasts a day, perhaps a week, month or possibly even years. I had these feeling about my career for a little less than 3 years.

It was October of 2009 that I lost my job, and it sucked. It sucked big time, but I shook it off and was back to work two months later. But that job did not work out, nor did the second, or the third! I had worked for one company for almost eight years before that, and had never categorized myself as a quitter, but I became quite self-conscious with all the changes. But I kept fighting, and believing in myself that I could do whatever I wanted with my career and life.

I stayed in touch over the past three years with a manager at an account during that time period before I was fired. I would stop by, catch up, try to sell him products and services that I was representing at the time. He was never far from my thoughts. We had discussed me coming to work with his company on several occasions, but the timing was never right.

Well that time has finally come and I start my new role on November 1st with that organization. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I can look forward to work again every day from the moment my feet hit the floor each morning. When you change jobs every year for three years, you start to feel a little lost and temporarily forget what made you successful in the past.

Whatever “indefinite unsettledness” you may be feeling, it will go away, I promise you that. But only if you work at it. I had some horrible days; weeks for that matter over the past three years, but I never gave up. In fact, the best thing that came out of these past three years was picking up a note pad and pen, and starting to write. Now I have this blog, I am in Toastmasters, and I look forward to writing a book, possibly training, teaching and speaking to others somewhere down the line.

As abrasive as it sounds, you need to have that moment where you say something like “screw it, I know I can do this“. And keep fighting for what you really want.

Good luck and remember, if I can get past my “indefinite unsettledness”, so can you!

Croix Sather – The Marathon and Speaking Machine!

You just have to check out Croix Sather’s story! I discovered him last week while listening to the Toastmaster’s podcast. In 2011, he completed 100 marathons and 100 speeches in 100 days! How lazy does that make us “regular folks” feel?

Recently, Croix broke a world record by running “146 treacherous and blistering miles in 3 days”!

Please check out his website here: http://www.dreambigactbig.com/about-us/143-about

And details of his recent world record “smashing” herehttp://www.prweb.com/releases/croix-sather/world-record/prweb9840661.htm

There are several ways to follow Croix, so certainly check out what he is up to in the future!

My Quotes Week Day 1!

As I was reviewing some notes a while ago, I realized that I had compiled a few personal quotes. I want to share three of my favourites with you this week!

Hope you enjoy it, here is Day 1:

“When you are thrown a fastball in baseball (a good scenario) hit it out of the park. When you are thrown a curveball (some adversity), be patient and don’t swing at it. Take a breath and deal with it. When another fastball comes, hit it out of the park.”

“As you get more experienced with curveballs, you will be able to hit them out of the park too. But when you first see them, they will seem impossible to even make contact with. As you get more experienced, you will be able to succeed, in spite of whatever life and business throws your way.” – Tim Mushey

Cold Calling – Will Smith Style!

I love Will Smith, and the movie Pursuit of Happyness. I have watched a lot of it online, but never rented it! I am long overdue to do so.

I watch this clip at least once a month, and wanted to share it with you today.

There is an art to cold calling, you just need to embrace it!

Which Stage Are You At?

I really enjoyed this motivational picture this morning. I think many of us are working on this daily!

For those of you who have been watching the Olympics, I hope you saw the women’s soccer game between Canada and the USA yesterday. It was an incredible match, and both teams should be very proud of their efforts.  Not one player on the field quit playing their heart out until the final buzzer sounded.

How close are you to achieving your goals, and how hard are you prepared to work for them?

This little picture should be a great reminder of that. Keep it close by!

Growing in Links – Is it a Good Thing?

Lesley Carter is one of the first people who reached out to me when I started my blog earlier this year, and I am grateful to her for that. When I checked out her blog, I was blown away by the content. Furthermore, when I checked out how popular her content was, I was blown away even more!

She has accomplished things online that many of us can only dream of, and I truly believe that she is just scratching the surface.

“Growing in Links” is a fantastic post, and I recommend that you take a few minutes to read it. And if you are not following her blog, what are you waiting for?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Mel Robbins Presentation – Stop Screwing Yourself Over

I originally posted this Mel Robbins video late in February, and have thought about it a lot lately.

This 21 minute presentation blew me away the first time I saw it! She drills through the mental clutter that stands between people and what they want.

Put your phone on mute, close your email and enjoy the message today at lunch, or at home one night as soon as you can.  It will be the best 21 minutes you spend all week and I hope it will change your day, week, year and beyond!

You can also check out her website at:

Enjoy!
