Saturday Music Memories – Overjoyed!

I fell in love with Matchbox Twenty the first time I heard the hit single “Push” all those years ago. A couple of years later in 1998, I went to Australia and they were just MASSIVE there!

I have followed their career very closely ever since.

Here is a FANTASTIC version of “Overjoyed” from their latest release, North

Have a great weekend and enjoy this summer day!

Saturday Music Memories – Bonfire Heart!

When my son was a baby in 2006/2007 he had a lot of trouble sleeping. Only certain music would help him settle down, like The Eagles “Hell Freezes Over” concert from 1994!

The other was James Blunt’s “Back To Bedlam” cd. I always enjoyed James’ sound and style, but after hearing it for 697 days straight, I needed a break!

Turns out that I did not listen to him again for five years, until recently.

I am really digging his new hit “Bonfire Heart”!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Saturday Music Memories – U2 At Their Best!

I was not a huge fan of U2 growing up in the 80’s, but I really started to appreciate them in the 90’s.

I saw them during their Pop Mart tour in 1995 and was blown away!

They played on Jimmy Fallon’s first Tonight Show earlier this week and… well it was AWESOME!

Check out this acoustic version of their smash hit “Ordinary Love”.

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

Saturday Music Memories – Fun “Stripped Down”

There are certain bands that capture my attention right away, and Fun was one of them.

I still can’t put my finger on it why I love them, I just do. Maybe it is the passion for their craft during live performances, or maybe it is just the great music.

I stumbled across this on YouTube last weekend and had to share.

Here is an incredible version of their hit “Carry On” stripped down acoustically.

Saturday Music Memories – It is Hard To Stay Mad..

When they can still rock like this 🙂

Saturday Music Memories – STP Rockin’ In the 1987 “Stang”

Stone Temple Pilots was on “constant rotation” in my cassette deck from 1991-1996 driving to university in my 1987 Mustang. I have always been captivated by the band, especially lead singer Scott Weiland.

His energy and passion on stage is well documented in the music industry, and he is one of my favourite vocalist from the last 20 years.

Instead of posting one of their classic hits, here is a fantastic acoustic live cut of a song off their first cd – “Crackerman”.

Enjoy!

Saturday Music Memories – Comin’ Home!

Dallas Green is a fantastic Canadian artist who used to front the hard rock band Alexisonfire. He did some solo work before and continues to tour under the name City and Colour.

I continue to be amazed at the diversity of his music and voice to perform with these incredibly different acts.

Enjoy this acoustic live version of one of his biggest hits, “Comin’ Home

Oh yeah in case you did not notice..

Dallas is a city

Green is a colour!

Pretty cool hey?

Have a fantastic weekend!

Saturday Music Memories – Can You Learn To Walk Again?

I am a huge Dave Grohl fan, but have never seen the Foo Fighters live. I am going to make a point of seeing them when they roll through town next time.

Everything he touches seems to turn to gold. His career has not been without adversity though. You see he was in a “little” band called Nirvana which obviously met their demise suddenly. But he persevered and has been kicking butt ever since. His collaborations with other artists have been met by rave reviews. I love his recent track with the surviving Nirvana boys and Paul McCartney. It just rocked!

His most recent collaboration is the sound track from his documentary – Sound City.

In this video, Dave Grohl hits it out of the park with two of Foo Fighters greatest hits … “Walk” and “Pretender” – acoustic.

Have an awesome weekend…

Saturday Music Memories – Lovin’ The Lifehouse

I have loved Lifehouse since they broke on to the mainstream music scene in 2001 with the smash hit “Hanging By A Moment”.

They have had some ups and downs in their career since then, but I have never stopped following. Jason Wade has one of those voices that keeps you wanting more. The past couple of years they have skyrocketed back in to the spotlight and I could not be happier.

I have not seen them in concert yet, but I am patiently waiting until next time they come through my town.

I have always loved their acoustic work, and this version of “Halfway Gone” is no exception!

Enjoy this awesome track and have a fantastic weekend!

Saturday Music Memories – Shinedown Strips It Down!

Unfortunately I don’t have any concert memories of Shinedown yet, but certainly hope to see them in the next couple of years.

Their sound is quite diverse and can get rockin’.

But as many of you know by now, I have a soft spot for live acoustic versions. They absolutely “kill it” with a fantastic acoustic version of their hit single “Unity”!

Give this a “spin” on a screen of your choice and have a wonderful weekend 🙂
