Jon Bon Jovi’s Take On Leadership…
I watched Jon Bon Jovi on Oprah’s Masterclass TV series a few months ago. I really enjoyed his take on leadership and wanted to share it with you today:
“You have to lead by example. You have to be a good listener. You have to be a good friend. You have to know when to take a punch, and when to give one. Share the spotlight and take the spotlight. Love one another unconditionally, but push each other more than anyone else would.”
Pretty great quote from somebody you probably thought was just a rock star!
Have a great day!

Love the quote, Tim! Perfect thing to hear this morning… keep up the good work.
Thanks Stacy! I really appreciate your comments. Glad you liked the quote/video..
I love Bon Jovi! Being a Jersey Girl, he holds a special place in my heart! ❤
Ahhhh Jersey Girl. Makes sense… I have seen them live like 6 or 7 times. Always a fun night out!
“Love one another unconditionally, but push each other more than anyone else would.” Great line and brilliant summary of what the best teams continually do.
It is a great line isn’t it Broc? I have been facinated with Jon Bon Jovi the complete person for years, above and beyond the rock star persona. Great summary of the best teams.
I saw an interview with him a few years back and what stuck with me is that they had the goal/intention of being the biggest rock band in the world. The goal wasn’t to live the rock fantasy, be a pretty good band, or sell a few records. It was to be biggest. That’s a completely different set of decisions, actions, and commitment. Clearly, it helps drive different results.
Oh you bet it does. It seems like he has not always been the easiest guy to deal with, but there has always been that vision and they stuck to it. They have always collaborated as a group, but when push comes to shove, it is always his call on things.
My favourite quote of his has always been, “I am the CEO of this corporation”. Few have done it better and longer than Bon Jovi, and he is only in his early 50’s!
