Saturday Music Memories – Is Your Life A “Highway”?
I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Tom Cochrane and Red Rider perform last week. He is a Canadian treasure that we all admire in Canada!
Tom has been around forever, but really broke internationally with his early ’90’s hit “Life Is A Highway”. (No… Rascal Flatts did not write this for the movie Cars 🙂
I stumbled across this absolute gem of Red Rider playing on American Bandstand in 1983. I heard “Human Race” last week and still love the track all these years later!
Enjoy and have a great weekend…

I didn’t know he was Canadian! Honestly, I thought this song was great when it came out. Then the radio station played it 1,874,112 times and now I can’t even listen to it. That and Ace of Base’s, “I saw the sign” Why did they play them to death back then!?!?
Hey Thanks for stopping by! A great track indeed. Yep some songs tend to get overplayed even today, but Life Is A Highway definitely did. Not sure what the theory is with overplaying.. I guess just hoping they will get different people listening when they replay it every 30 minutes! Thanks again…
Hi Tim, thanks for sharing this blast from the past. When this song came out I had just had my second son, who just turned 30 last week. Nice to see that Tom is still around! Have a great weekend 🙂
Ahh glad the tune resonated with you Tina! It sounded awesome under the stars a couple of weeks ago. We had a blast. Thanks again..
